Suspect taken Into custody after Taylorsville disturbance

TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. - One man was arrested for harassment after the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) was notified of a disturbance in the 9400 block of Main Street in Taylorsville on Saturday, September 26, just after 9 p.m.   

Deputies spoke with witnesses and victims, who reported that the suspect, Kyle Beckemeyer, 29, of Taylorsville, had allegedly been repeatedly harassing victims in a neighboring apartment within the complex.

He was reportedly using racial slurs and making threats of violence toward the victims. Officers were also informed that Beckemeyer was believed to be armed with a handgun. 

While speaking with the victims, deputies said they also heard him yelling racial slurs from inside his apartment.   

BCSO attempted to talk with Beckemeyer, but he refused to speak with them and barricaded himself inside his apartment. Due to his criminal history, the Columbus Police Department (CPD) SWAT Team was asked to assist. 

Law enforcement requested and was granted a search warrant for the suspect's apartment.   

Shortly after midnight, after refusing several commands to surrender, SWAT members executed the warrant and apprehended Beckemeyer without further incident.   

He was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and booked for Intimidation with a Prior Conviction and Harassment.  

This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
