SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. - An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for all of south-central Indiana from Monday at 7 p.m. through Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The Extreme Cold Warning includes Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Brown, Decatur, and Shelby Counties.
Dangerously cold wind chills, as low as 25 below zero, could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 minutes. These extreme wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
The National Weather Service and Bartholomew County Emergency Management recommend that you:
- Dress in layers and wear a hat, face mask, and gloves when outdoors
- Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors
- Keep pets inside
- Use portable heaters correctly
- Do not use generators inside
