Town of Hope Water Utility customers are under Boil Water Advisory

HOPE, Ind. - The Town of Hope Water Utility Department announced Wednesday that it has issued a Boil Water Advisory until Saturday, July 18, at 2 a.m., for all customers due to a loss of water pressure and/or a disruption in the water distribution system.

As a precautionary measure, residents are advised to boil all water used for drinking and cooking until further notice.

Town of Hope Water Utility customers should bring all water to a rolling boil for at least five (5) minutes before using it for:

• Drinking
• Preparing food or beverages
• Making ice
• Brushing teeth
• Washing fruits and vegetables
• Preparing infant formula
• Giving water to pets

You may use tap water for bathing, showering, laundry, and washing dishes; however, use caution to avoid swallowing water during these activities.

The Boil Water Advisory has been issued due to water pressure dropping below acceptable levels. There is an increased risk that harmful bacteria or other microorganisms could enter the water distribution system. Although there is no confirmation that the water is contaminated, this advisory is being issued as a precaution to protect public health.

The advisory will remain in effect until Saturday, July 18, at 2 a.m., so that the system can be properly disinfected, and laboratory testing confirms the water is safe for consumption.
