COLUMBUS, Ind. - Registration is now open for the Columbus Police Department's (CPD) 2026 Women's Self-Defense classes.

The $25 course includes two evening sessions, from 6 to 9 p.m., focusing on self-defense for adult women taught by CPD defensive tactics instructors.

This year's spring program will be held on April 1 and 8, and the fall course will be on September 2 and 9.

Classes will be held at the Evolution Training Center, 2670 Verhulst Street, east of Middle Road, near the Columbus Municipal Airport.

The attire for attendees is gym-style clothing, and no jewelry is allowed.

The session will begin with a basic self-defense and awareness PowerPoint presentation, followed by a review of some self-defense basics. Each week, students will progress through striking, kicking, basic escapes, and human targeting.

The classes will fill up quickly. When you apply, make sure you can attend the class for which you are registered. Switching dates may not be an option, and no refunds will be given.
