NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The North Vernon Police Department responded to the area of 7th Street and Hoosier Street at 6:15 p.m. on April 10 for a reported domestic battery in progress. A caller reported a male striking a female inside a moving vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a high-risk stop. The male passenger, identified as Carl Edward Ball, was taken into custody. The female driver was found with visible injuries, including blood around her mouth and damage to her teeth.
The victim reported that Ball allegedly struck her multiple times in the face while she was driving. A witness on scene confirmed observing the assault while the vehicle was in motion.
While detained, Ball continued to yell at the victim, instructing her to deny the assault, and remained disorderly despite multiple warnings.
Ball was transported to the Jennings County Jail. This case has been submitted to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office with the following charges requested:
- Domestic Battery Resulting in Moderate Injury
- Disorderly Conduct
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
