SEYMOUR, Ind. - The Seymour Fire Department (SFD) responded to a reported apartment fire at the Canterbury Apartments, 630 East Oak St., on Saturday, at around 4:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters made entry and initiated an interior attack on the building's second floor. Within minutes, heavy flames and dense smoke were visible, extending through the roof and gables. Due to the intensity of the blaze, crews transitioned to a defensive strategy.
The fire was soon extinguished with no injuries to residents or SFD personnel.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist approximately 15 displaced residents.
At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Seymour Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Division.
SFD commended Mayor Matt Nicholson and Seymour Transit Director Dillon Walls for securing a Seymour City Transit bus and personally transporting displaced residents to the Red Cross facility on Myers Street.
FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) was dispatched to northbound I-65 near the 90-mile marker early Saturday morning for a one-vehicle accident.
