Morgan County emergency crews rescue fawn from flood waters

MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. - The Madison Township Fire Department was dispatched to the 13000 block of North Mann Road for a water rescue, just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

First-arriving units found a vehicle in the water with one occupant still inside. The driver was able to escape without assistance from firefighters.

While crews were clearing the scene, they heard a baby deer yelping as it was being carried downstream in the rapidly rising water. Captain Joe Sinclair entered the water and safely rescued the young deer. View the fawn rescue video here.

Medics on scene provided aid until the deer could be transferred to a local animal rescue.

Authorities plead with motorists not to drive through flooded roadways. Water can be deeper and faster-moving than it appears. If you see water over the road, "turn around, don’t drown."
