COLUMBUS, Ind. –The annual Memorial Day service is set for Monday, May 25 starting at 11 a.m. at the Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans in downtown Columbus.
The service features the reading of each name of a local veteran who has passed since May 2025, followed by the moving tolling of a special bell. There will also be the placement of wreaths by representatives of the Gold Star Mothers, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Special music will be provided by the Southern Indiana Pipes and Drums. The featured vocalist is Matthew Pillar. Bartholomew County’s Honor Guard will fire three rifle volleys and Michael Schmelz of the Columbus City Band will play “Taps” to conclude the service.
Limited seating will be provided so you are encouraged to bring your own chair. Special thanks to the Bartholomew County Funeral Directors and Sawyer Glick, vocalist Matthew Pillar, Associate Senior Pastor B.J. Marshall, and Midnight Express Entertainment for their involvement.
In the event of rain, the service will be moved indoors to Columbus City Hall.
