JNET busts 2 alleged cocaine dealers

COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) released information on Monday afternoon about two drug arrests last week. After a long investigation into narcotics activity, a search warrant was executed on Tuesday, May 12, in the 1300 block of Woodleigh Ct., in Tiption Lakes.

The warrant resulted in officers allegedly locating over 50 grams of cocaine, scales/packaging material, $1,800 in currency, and a loaded firearm. Two individuals, Hannah Smiley, 26, and Justin Dampier, 31, both of Columbus, were taken into custody.

They were charged with:

  • Dealing in Cocaine
  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Maintaining a Common Nuisance
  • Possession of Paraphernalia

Dampier remains in custody with a $150,000 bond. Smiley has since been released after posting bond, which was also set at $150,000.   

This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.    

JNET, a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department, and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, is proactively targeting the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County.
