COLUMBUS, Ind. - Detectives from the Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post responded to the Bartholomew County Jail on Saturday, February 14, to investigate an incident that resulted in the hospitalization of a female inmate.
Bartholomew County Correction Officers conducted a check at 1 p.m. on a female inmate, who was in a cell by herself, and found her unresponsive on the floor.
They immediately provided emergency medical care and requested Bartholomew County EMS to respond. The woman was transported to Columbus Regional Health in serious condition.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office requested the Indiana State Police to investigate the incident to determine what led to the female being found unresponsive.
The inmate involved in this incident is not being identified due to the nature of the investigation.
No Foul play is suspected. The ISP investigation remains ongoing.
