SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. - The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has announced that a Heat Advisory is in effect for a large portion of the Hoosier State from noon on Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, at 8 p.m.
South-central Indiana counties in the Heat Advisory area include Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Brown, Shelby, and Decatur.
Daytime temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s, with heat index values reaching up to 108°F expected. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
You are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned room, and check on relatives and neighbors. If you work outdoors, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 9-1-1.
