COLUMBUS, Ind. - In a media release on Wednesday, the City of Columbus said it was honored to announce a generous donation from Mr. Iichiro Haga, President of Toyo Corporation, made in memory of his late father, Chairman Akio Haga.

The gift will support the longterm care of the cherry blossom tree memorial at Nexus Park and fund the planting of additional cherry blossom trees. The donation was made on behalf of the Haga family by Toyo member company, Precision Tool Service, Inc.

Columbus holds deep significance for the Haga family. Mr. Haga’s brother, the late and former president of Toyo, Mr. Shojiro Haga, spent more time in Columbus than any other city outside Japan.

In 2023, Mr. Haga dedicated the memorial of cherry blossom trees in Shojiro’s honor as a living symbol of friendship between the family and the community.
