FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Franklin Fire Department responded to a working residence fire in the 500 block of Mallory Parkway on Monday night, March 16.
First arriving crews were met with heavy flames and smoke. Due to the winds and involvement of the blaze, crews had to fight defensively after the interior ceiling collapsed.
The homeowners made it out safely. One firefighter sustained a slight injury. One dog perished as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Mutual aid partners that assisted in extinguishing the blaze were the Whiteland, Bargersville, White River Township, and Amity Fire Departments.
