FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Franklin Public Art Advisory Commission is looking to enhance downtown streetscapes with new public art installations this fall. Beginning soon, several locations will feature freshly wrapped utility boxes designed by local artists.
The Commission's Program Committee will assign custom artwork for five prominent downtown utility boxes, including
- South Main Street and South Street near the Community Foundation building
- West Court Street and West Monroe Street
- Water Street and East Jefferson Street near Kick It
- Wayne Street near the Garment Factory parking lot
- North Jackson Street across from Johnson County Golf Carts.
Artist compensation for the project is set at $750 per approved design. "Sly Fox" will complete the installation and wrapping services at an estimated cost of approximately $500 per box.
Local officials anticipate the installations will be complete within a few weeks, weather permitting.
