Columbus woman arrested on felony drug charges following overdose investigation

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) responded to the 2200 block of Park Avenue after receiving a report of a suspected overdose on Sunday, July 19, at around 6 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive individual and administered Narcan. The individual was revived and subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment before being taken into custody.

As the investigation progressed, members of the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) were contacted to assist. Based on evidence obtained during the investigation, JNET detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives allegedly found a substantial quantity of suspected fentanyl, along with additional illegal narcotics-related items consistent with the possession and distribution of controlled substances.

As a result, Jessica Comstock, 39, of Columbus, was arrested on the preliminary charges of:

• Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (Level 2 Felony)
• Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 3 Felony)
• Possession of a Legend Drug Injection Device (Level 6 Felony)
• Possession of a Legend Drug (Level 6 Felony)
• Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)
