COLUMBUS, Ind. — City of Columbus engineering officials are soliciting bids from contractors to replace the signal system at Rocky Ford Road and Central Avenue, identifying the site as a priority crash location.
At the recent Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, officials authorized a notice to bidders for Project 26-07 to modernize traffic management hardware at the intersection. Existing equipment cannot accommodate dedicated left-turn signalization.
The project will replace aging components with new signal heads and protected left-turn phases designed to reduce traffic collisions.
During the same session, the board took five contractor quotes under advisement for airport sidewalk connection improvements, ranging from a low quote of $184,094 from Case Construction to $426,450 from Milestone Contractors. The board also approved a $17,405 change order for the city's ongoing emergency vehicle preemption system project.
