City of Columbus Councilor Kestler throws hat into ring for Mayor

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Columbus City Councilor Grace Kestler officially announced her candidacy for Mayor of Columbus in the 2027 Election on Tuesday evening. She launched her campaign centered on inclusivity with a vision to build upon Columbus' strengths while preparing the community for the opportunities and challenges of the future.   

Kestler, a democrat, made the declaration before supporters, community members, and local leaders at Zwanzigz Tap Room, outlining her commitment to Columbus and her vision for its future.   

“We are ready for bold, responsive leadership that brings back courage, creativity, and results for our community," Kestler said.   

A lifelong believer in public service and community involvement, she brings a diverse background of leadership in business, nonprofit, and civic engagement.   

Kestler and her family call Columbus home and have deep roots in the community. Through her professional experience, volunteer service, and involvement with local organizations, she says she has developed a firsthand understanding of the opportunities available to Columbus and the importance of thoughtful, collaborative leadership.   

"Local government has the most direct impact on our daily lives, from our streets to our parks. It shouldn't feel exclusive or distant. It should feel like a trusted partner working hard every single day to improve our quality of life."   

Her campaign will focus on three core pillars:
