2 local non-profits team-up for 'Jackpot for Generations' fundraiser

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Two respected community organizations are joining forces for an impactful evening of fun. Mill Race Center and Advocates for Children have partnered to host "Jackpot for Generations:" An Evening of Chance and Charity, a 21+ casino-style fundraiser taking place on Friday, June 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Commons.

This inaugural event represents a unique collaboration between two nonprofits serving opposite ends of the generational spectrum - children and seniors. By combining efforts, the organizations aim to raise awareness and funds through a shared community event.

Advocates for Children provides trained Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) who serve abused and neglected children in Bartholomew, Decatur, and Jennings counties. With 78% of children served under the age of 12 years old and many living below the poverty line, the organization ensures each child has a voice in the court system and the opportunity for a safe, stable, and permanent home.

Mill Race Center supports adults ages 50 and older by promoting active, healthy, and connected aging. With more than 2,500 members (120 over the age of 90), it provides programming across the eight dimensions of wellness, including social engagement, education, and fitness opportunities that help older adults remain independent and engaged in the community.

Crissy Riley, Board Member of Mill Race Center, said, “We often think of supporting children or seniors separately, but both groups need strong support systems. This event allows us to do that together.”

Guests attending Jackpot for Generations will enjoy casino-style table games with professional dealers, appetizers, a cash bar, and prize opportunities in a lively, social environment.

Funds raised from the event will directly support advocacy services for children through Advocates for Children and wellness-focused programming for seniors at Mill Race Center.
