City of Shelbyville 2026 Free Summer Concert Series

The City of Shelbyville and Shelbyville Parks and Recreation with Runnebohm Construction are proud to announce four free admission special concerts this summer that will take place at the Blue River Memorial Park (725 Lee Boulevard): The Boys in the Band (Alabama Tribute), Southern Rock Explosion (Sam Morrison Band), Captain Mike & The Shipwrecked (Jimmy Buffett Tribute), Excitable (Def Leppard Tribute), and 84 (Van Halen Tribute).

Thanks to the generosity of several community partners, including Shelby County Tourism and Visitor’s Bureau, Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino, Plymate, Knauf, and Capone's Downtown Speakeasy. Each show will also feature a local opening act and start at 7:00 p.m.

All four shows are family-friendly and free to the public, perfect for date nights, family outings, or time with friends. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets each evening.

“We’re already thinking about the best time of the year in Shelbyville,” said Trisha, Director of Shelbyville Parks & Recreation. “Our summer concerts are an important part of what we do for the community, a tradition we’re honored and excited to keep bringing back better than ever each year.”

Friday, June 26, 2026 – The Boys in the Band (Alabama Tribute)

Boys in the Band hail from Fort Payne, Alabama, and aim to give the Alabama experience to lifelong fans and introduce younger generations to the magic of Alabama's timeless music. The Alabama Tribute show is a high-energy performance with note-for-note renditions of Alabama's live performances from their 50-year reign as the greatest country music group of all time. There will never be another Alabama, but Boys in the Band keeps sharing the music and showmanship made famous by their small-town heroes. 

Friday, July 17, 2026 – Southern Rock Explosion (Sam Morrison Band)

Southern Rock Explosion (the Sam Morrison Band) returns to Blue River Memorial Park this year, delivering an authentic sound influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Allman Brothers, and Charlie Daniels. SMB pulls Southern rock out of the '70s into a time and culture where folks need music.

Friday, August 7, 2026 – Captain Mike & The Shipwrecked (Jimmy Buffett Tribute)

Set sail with Captain Mike & the Shipwrecked, the premier Jimmy Buffett tribute band! Join us for an evening of Parrot Head hits like “Margaritaville,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” "Come Monday," and deep cuts from the Coral Reefer catalog. Don’t miss this island-inspired night of fun!

Saturday, September 12, 2026 – Excitable (Def Leppard Tribute) & 84 (Van Halen Tribute)

Excitable delivers extreme high-energy performances that capture the essence of Def Leppard. Fans can expect an unforgettable experience filled with nostalgia, mind-blowing vocals, and enthralling guitar solos. Join them for a night of rock ‘n’ roll that will make you EXCITABLE!

84 covers material from the original self-titled album Van Halen (1978) through their most popular album, 1984. You will be on your feet with David Lee Roth era hits like “Jump,” “Panama,” “Ain't Talkin' Bout Love,” “Eruption,” and more!  If your favorite isn't listed, you can be sure you will catch it at a show.
