COLUMBUS, Ind. – Two men were arrested on numerous charges after they reportedly fled from a Columbus Police Department (CPD) officer during a traffic stop on Monday afternoon. Law enforcement stopped a car for an expired license plate, near 11th and Chestnut Streets, at 3:30 p.m.
After speaking with the driver, Matthew Herron, 39, of Columbus, and his passenger Timothy Mose, 30, of Crawfordsville, the officer requested a CPD K-9, and it supposedly alerted to the odor of narcotics in the car.
Police say the vehicle then sped off, with Herron disregarding several stop signs and traffic signals, and also driving into oncoming traffic. After a short pursuit, the car was pulled over in the 8100 block of 25th Street where both men were detained. While searching the vehicle, CPD allegedly found methamphetamine and counterfeit money.
Herron is preliminarily charged with possession of meth, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, criminal recklessness, and counterfeiting. Mose was booked for possession of methamphetamine.
