INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced on Monday that the April unemployment rates for south-central Indiana counties were significantly lower compared to the previous month.
For Bartholomew County, the April rate was 2.9%, down from March’s 3.6%. The county reported 42,241 employed residents out of a 43,511-person labor force.
Johnson County’s April rate was 2.8%, which was lower than the March numbers of 3.4%. Employed workers totaled 85,737 from a possible 88,210.
Jackson County recorded a 2.8% April unemployment rate, which was down from the 3.4% rate it registered last month. The county reported 21,742 employed residents out of a possible 22,374.
The Jennings County rate for April was 3.4%, compared to 4.3% in March. There were 13,158 workers out of a possible 13,628.
Indiana state officials at DWD also announced that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for April was 3.4%, decreasing from 4.1% in March.
