HOPE, Ind. — The Old Fashioned Independence Day celebration is this Friday, June 30, on Hope Town Square. Some of the festivities planned for this year include a kids’ parade, a pie-baking contest, games, crafts, and the annual Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Contest.
Children, ages 3 to 10, may join the Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Contest, with winners being determined by the child who gets the most penny votes. Get registration forms at The Yellow Trail Museum, Willow Leaves, Reflections, or the library. All money collected benefits the Yellow Trail Museum and must be turned in by noon on Tuesday, June 28. Winning children will lead the parade.
The Kids’ Parade of Decorated Bikes, Tricycles, Strollers, Wagons, etc., is open to all children 10 years or younger. Meet at the Pump House on the north side of the square between 6 and 6:15 p.m. It is encouraged for all to wear clothing in red, white, and blue.
Bakers are invited to bring a full-sized apple pie for the baking contest in the evening. There is a $25 grand prize, plus second and third place prizes of $15 and $10. The contest has an adult category and one for kids ages 12 or younger.
