COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Georgia man was arrested Thursday morning on multiple charges after he led officers with the Columbus Police Department (CPD) on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
Law enforcement received a Flock camera notification of a stolen vehicle on State Road 46 West at around 11:45 a.m. and officers later found the vehicle in the parking lot of a business on Carr Hill Road.
Police approached the driver, later identified as William. D. Honea, of Douglasville, Georgia. He then backed the car up at a high rate of speed, striking a vehicle in the parking lot before taking off, per CPD.
Officers pursued the suspect. He drove into a nearby hotel parking lot and was apprehended. While searching the stolen car, the officers reportedly located narcotics and drug-related items inside.
Honea was transported to Bartholomew County Jail where he was preliminarily charged with theft, resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
