INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Monday that the unemployment rates for Bartholomew and surrounding counties decreased for the month of August.
For Bartholomew County, the August rate was 2.4%, down from July’s 2.8%. DWD said the county reported 43,045 employed residents out of a 44,108-person labor force.
The Jennings County rate for August was 2.9%, compared to 3.4% the previous month. Johnson County’s August rate was 2.3%, down from July’s 2.7%. Jackson County recorded a 2.6% August unemployment rate, compared to 3.0% for July.
Indiana state officials announced on Friday that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for the month of August was 2.8% versus 3.5% for July.
