BALTIMORE, Md. – The Casey Foundation has released its annual KIDS Count data book, showing Indiana ranks 28th in the country in overall child well-being, up from 29th in last year’s rankings. The KIDS Count data book ranks states annually on overall child well-being using a selection of indicators.
Called the KIDS COUNT® index, these indicators capture what children need most to thrive in four domains: (1) Economic Well-Being, (2) Education, (3) Health, and (4) Family and Community. Each of the four domains has four indicators and these indicators represent the best available data to measure the status of child well-being at the state and national levels.
Indiana’s ranking in the four domains is as follows:
- Economic Well-being: #19
- Education: #17
- Health: #31
- Family and Community: #31
The Casey Foundation has ranked states since 1990. View the data book in its entirety online.
