INDIANAPOLIS – In recognition of their commitment to Indiana agriculture, 69 families were presented with a Hoosier Homestead Award on Friday. Three of the honors went to Bartholomew and Jackson County farm families.
To qualify, farms must be owned by the same family for more than 100 consecutive years. Centennial (100 years), Sesquicentennial (150 years), and Bicentennial (200 years) awards were handed out to Indiana farmers.
In Bartholomew County, the Burbrink family received a Centennial Award, and the Kreinhagen family took home a Sesquicentennial Award. The Moennings of Jackson County also captured a Sesquicentennial trophy.
Since its inception in 1976, nearly 6,000 families have received the Hoosier Homestead Award.
