COLUMBUS, Ind. – Milestone Contractors will start preliminary work next week on a $5.1 million asphalt resurfacing project on U.S. 31 in Bartholomew County, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
Work will take place from Washington Street in Columbus to just south of Interstate 65 in Taylorsville. Patching is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 23. Crews will start their maintenance going north on U.S. 31, from Washington Street to I-65, and then work back south in each lane of the highway.
INDOT says that a turn lane will be added on southbound U.S. 31 at County Road 400N during the project.
Patching is estimated to be finished by October 31. Milling and paving will take place next spring.
