FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 1200 Mount Pleasant East on Thursday after the report of a suspicious person attempted to gain entry into the caller’s vehicle that parked in their driveway. The suspect then left in a black SUV with a loud exhaust.
While responding to the area, deputies observed a vehicle matching that description sitting at the entrance of Morgantown Road and Mount Pleasant Street. As the officers turned around to check the car, the vehicle began traveling south on Morgantown Road.
A traffic stop was initiated at Macy Way, but as law enforcement approached, the driver reportedly sped away. Deputies chased the SUV which eventually left the roadway and began going through back yards. Authorities lost sight of the car and stopped pursuing it.
The suspect’s vehicle soon reappeared and struck one of the deputy’s cars. The driver exited and tried to flee on foot but was chased down.
Dennis Turner, 39, of Indianapolis, was booked for resisting law enforcement, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a syringe, criminal recklessness, criminal mischief, and leaving the scene of an accident.
