BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana State Police are investigating an accident from Tuesday afternoon that involved three cars, and a school bus in southern Bartholomew County that resulted in three injuries.
According to police, the accident began when Shanaya Brown, 27, of Columbus was traveling southbound in the 11000 block of South State Road 11 and she began slow down along with the car ahead of her. Jack Cooper, 71, of Seymour, was driving behind her and swerved into the northbound lane to avoid an accident which led to a near head on collision with another vehicle driven by Maria Hernandex-Zarate. After her car was it, it reportedly struck the school bus which was from the Seymour Community School Corporation and had approximately 33 students on board according to police.
Cooper, Hernandez-Zarate, and a 17-year-old female student, who was on the bus, were transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
