SEYMOUR, Ind. – Seymour police officers are training this week with a FireArms Training Simulator (FATS).
It’s a video game-like platform that puts officers in different virtual scenarios where they have to make split-second decisions on whether to shoot, just like they would in real life.
The simulator allows officers to make mistakes and learn from them without injuring themselves or someone else.
Mayor Matt Nicholson, DPW Director Chad Dixon, and other city officials also got to take a turn with FATS to get an idea of the kind of pressure that Seymour Police Department officers face on the job every day.
