COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) says that ongoing snowfall and dropping temperatures have led to deteriorating road conditions and the decision to elevate the county’s travel status to a Watch Level (Orange).
Residents should refrain from travel on the roadways unless it is essential. If you must travel, use caution and allow extra time, and keep a greater distance between you and other vehicles.
A Travel Watch means that conditions are threatening to the public’s safety. During a local “Travel Watch” advisory, BCEM recommends only essential travel, such as emergencies or going to work.
On Saturday afternoon, the Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple accidents due to the slick roads.
