FRANKLIN/EDINBURGH, Ind. – It was a busy morning on Tuesday for law enforcement officers and first responders in Johnson County. The snow caused accidents near Franklin and Edinburgh on I-65.
Below is a short recap of the incidents that temporarily closed I-65 during the morning commute.
UPDATE: 8:38 a.m.: The crash on I-65 near Edinburgh has been cleared. I-65 near Franklin is open, but traffic is slow.
Portions of northbound and southbound I-65 are closed near Edinburgh and Franklin due to serious crashes.
UPDATE (8:10 a.m.) – At approximately 8 a.m., a multi-vehicle crash closed traffic in both directions between South County Road 800E and Greensburg Road (two miles south of the Franklin area) at mile marker 86. All lanes are closed in the northbound direction of travel.
Earlier at 7:15 a.m., another accident occurred at mile marker 83, between South County Road 800E and West County Road 1000S (2 miles north of the Edinburgh area). That part of the road is closed. Crews are on the scene working to clear that portion of the road.
All lanes are closed in the southbound direction of travel, and traffic is heavily congested in the area of mile marker 83. The left lane has just been reopened.
