NORTH VERNON, Ind. -The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) de-escalated a hostage situation where a local man allegedly held a female victim at gunpoint on Monday afternoon, October 6.
JCSO Deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of North Huckleberry Drive to a domestic violence situation at approximately 12:30 p.m. The female victim was advised to flee the residence, but the male suspect, 21-year-old Kean Weston of Indianapolis, allegedly held a firearm to the female victim’s head as she attempted to leave.
During a nearly hour-and-a-half standoff, Sgt. - Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon- Level 5 Felony
- Pointing a Firearm- Level 6 Felony
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office thanked Jennings County Central Dispatcher’s Julie Miller and Amie Smith, who they say were crucial in passing information back and forth between deputies and the victim.
