WHITELAND, Ind. – Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation (CPCSC) recently completed several energy efficiency upgrades in its school buildings that will result in 600,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy saved per year.
The school corporation leveraged Duke Energy’s Smart $aver program that provides cash rebates and custom incentives to encourage the purchase of energy-efficient equipment. As part of multiple retrofit projects, Clark-Pleasant will receive over $100,000 in rebates for lighting and chiller replacements.
“Our collaboration with Duke Energy has helped us work toward sustainable and energy-efficient school designs,” said CPCSC superintendent Dr. Timothy Edsell. “We’re grateful for their continued support, which helps us reduce operating costs while teaching our students the value of environmental responsibility.”
The school’s energy savings equate to approximately 393 metric tons of carbon dioxide reduction from our air, or the equivalent of removing 91 gas-powered passenger cars from the road each year.
Last year, Duke Energy awarded approximately $7 million in incentives and rebates to participating Indiana business customers under its energy efficiency programs, including Smart $aver, accounting for about 53 million kWh of energy reduction.
