TOKYO – According to reports from international news outlet Reuters, Honda will move production of its next-generation Civic from Mexico to Indiana. The move follows the proposed 25% tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on both Mexico and Canada.
The Civic sedans have been assembled in Ontario, Canada for several decades, and the Civic hatchback has been made in Greensburg since 2008. All Civic production was reportedly slated to move to Mexico due to the increasing costs of production in Canada and Indiana.
Based on Reuters reports, production in Indiana will begin in 2028. It is not known if production will occupy space at the plant in Decatur County or if a separate facility will be built elsewhere in the state. The expected annual production would be about 210,000 units.
