COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Historical Society is hosting Fred Leickly as he shares the history of the Civil War and its impact on Bartholomew County, on Thursday, October 10, at 6 p.m., at the Helen Haddad Hall.
He is the next presenter in the Evelyn Seward Speaker Series. Admission is free and funding is provided by the Evelyn Seward Speaker Series Endowment.
Dr. Frederick Leickly is an emeritus professor of pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and spent nearly 25 years at Riley Children’s Hospital.
He is also interested in history, specifically the Civil War. His retirement has allowed him to pursue these interests. His great-grandfather fought for the 2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and survived to write his recollections of his experiences.
Dr. Leickly has been a member of the Sons of Union Veteran of the Civil War for 22 years and serves as Senior Vice Commander and Secretary for the John B. Anderson Camp #223. The Camp is actively looking for recognition for those sons of Bartholomew County who served in the war.
