SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) received a report from Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) management on Friday that an employee had been taking money from the location. The employee supposedly documented that cash was being put into the safe, but the accounting numbers did not match up.
KFC said they believed that money had been stolen for about six months and they were missing over $7,000.
Based on evidence collected during the investigation, detectives went to the residence of Aimee J. Brooks, 40, of Seymour, to question her. While talking with her, they noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the location.
Investigators received permission to search the premises and allegedly located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and equipment for a marijuana-growing operation.
While interviewing the suspect, she reportedly admitted to investigators that she was taking the money from KFC.
Brooks was arrested for Theft (level 6 felony), Neglect of a Dependent (level 6 felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (level 6 felony), Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (misdemeanor). Brooks was taken to the Jackson County Jail and remanded into the custody of the jail division.
SPD says that charges are being requested on other suspects.
