COLUMBUS, Ind. – A reported robbery sent the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) to a Shell gas station on North U.S. 31 on Wednesday, just before 6:30 a.m. According to the clerk, a man entered wearing a mask and stated he had a weapon in his coat pocket.
The suspect left the scene in a vehicle with easily identifiable characteristics. The car was captured on external security cameras.
A BCSO deputy located the suspect vehicle 24 minutes later parked in front of a residence in the Tannehill Trailer Park, less than one mile from the location of the robbery. Kobe Harmeson, 25, of Columbus, was found in the home where the vehicle was parked.
Harmeson was arrested for robbery and taken to Bartholomew County Jail. Narcotics were allegedly found on his person which resulted in additional charges. He remains in custody on a 48-hour hold.
It was later discovered that Harmeson was arrested for burglarizing the same gas station in 2020.
This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
