GREENWOOD, Ind. -The Greenwood Fire Department (GFD) was dispatched to 565 Alton Drive in Greenwood late Thursday afternoon after a report of a structure fire.
Initial reports advised that flames were coming from the garage and the side of the house. Firefighters from Engine 93 arrived just before 5 p.m. and were met with fire on the home’s roof. At 5:10 p.m., crews reported a partial collapse of the garage roof.
By about 5:50 p.m., the on-scene chief advised the fire was under control.
Upon initial investigation, it is believed that the blaze started via a lightning strike. No civilians or GFD personnel were injured in the fire.
The White River Township Fire Department and American Red Cross assisted the Greenwood Fire Department at the scene.
