GREENWOOD, Ind. – Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers joined city leaders and community members this week to officially open Greenwood’s newest recreational amenity, the Freedom Park Pickleball Complex. The $1.3 million development, located next to Freedom Springs Aquatic Park, will expand opportunities in Greenwood for continued wellness and sanctioned tournaments.
“I am excited to open the Freedom Park Pickleball Complex,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “This amenity will help keep residents healthy while expanding their level of pickleball play in the community.”
The pickleball facility is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk with lights and fencing around all courts. The 16-court complex is arranged into quads with a center walkway. The nearby Freedom Park parking lot was reconstructed to include 120 more parking spots for the pickleball complex project.
Greenwood offers indoor and outdoor pickleball league play that will expand to the Freedom Park Pickleball Complex. This facility will also allow city and community members to host sanctioned pickleball tournaments through professional pickleball organizations.
Residents can rent courts at the facility to host private tournaments and events. Pickleball complex rentals can be made through Greenwood Parks and Recreation.
