HOPE, Ind. – The annual Old Fashioned Independence Day celebration is Friday, June 28, on the Hope Town Square. Some of the festivities planned include a kids’ parade, a pie-baking contest, games, crafts, fireworks, and the annual Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker contest.
Children, ages 3 to 10, may enter the Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker contest, with winners determined by the child collecting the most penny votes. Get registration forms at The Yellow Trail Museum, Willow Leaves, or the Hope branch library. All money must be turned in by noon on Wednesday, June 26. Winning kids will lead the parade.
The Kids’ Parade of Decorated Bikes, Tricycles, Strollers, Wagons, etc., is open to all children 10 years or younger. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue clothing for the 6:30 p.m. event.
Bakers are invited to bring a full-sized apple pie for the pie-baking contest in the evening. The contest has an adult category and one for kids ages 12 or younger. Registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Fireworks will culminate Hope’s Old Fashioned Independence Day at 10 p.m.
