COMMISKEY, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull over a Jeep on State Road 7, near the Jennings/Jefferson County Line, early Sunday morning.
The driver, identified as Corey Lane, 33, of Butlerville, did not stop. A chase began as he tried to get away from deputies at a high rate of speed. The suspect went north on State Road 7. turned south on State Road 3 in Vernon, and then fled east on State Road 250.
During the pursuit, Jennings County Dispatch received a 911 call from the driver as he was trying to elude law enforcement. The dispatcher urged Lane to stop. After several minutes of communication, he voluntarily pulled over and surrendered.
Deputies allegedly discovered a firearm while searching the vehicle.
Lane was arrested, taken to Jennings County Jail, and preliminarily charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon (Level 4 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle (Level 6 Felony), Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor), Operating a Vehicle without ever Receiving a License (Misdemeanor), and Violation of Parole (Possession of Methamphetamine).
