INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced this week that the December unemployment rates for local counties in south-central Indiana were all lower than the previous month, ending the year on a good note.
For Bartholomew County, the December rate was 2.4%, down from November’s 3.0%. The county reported 43,084 employed residents out of a 44,136-person labor force.
Johnson County’s December rate was 2.3%, lower than November’s 2.8%. Employed workers totaled 86,219 from a possible 88,206.
Jackson County recorded a 2.3% December unemployment rate, compared to 2.9% last month. It reported 22,066 employed residents out of a possible 22,578.
The Jennings County rate for December was 3.0%, compared to 3.3% the previous month. There were 13,122 workers out of a possible 13,525.
Indiana state officials at DWD also announced that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for December was 3.6%, down from 3.7% in November.
