COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management says that the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for south-central Indiana, including the cities of Columbus, Franklin, Seymour, Edinburgh, and North Vernon.
The advisory is in effect from Friday at 7 p.m. until Saturday at 10 a.m. Frigid wind chills are expected with some colder than 15 below zero possible.
NWS warns that the cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. When traveling outside, wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
UPDATE (Friday at 6:15 a.m.): A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the area until 10 a.m. on Friday. Also, a Travel Advisory is in effect for Friday. The Travel Advisory status is the lowest level of local travel advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in some areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should avoid those areas.
