FRANKLIN, Ind. – Because Franklin and Johnson County are right on the line of the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, the communities are readying for an influx of people and traffic.
The City of Franklin and Festival Country Indiana are presenting a three-day Franklin Eclipse Festival beginning on Saturday, April 6, and running through Eclipse Day on Monday, April 8.
Whiteland, Edinburgh, Greenwood, and Nineveh are also offering special events scheduled around the event. To see all of the Johnson County activities that are being planned and an aerial view of the eclipse line, go here.
With the expected arrival of thousands of visitors for the solar eclipse, the Johnson County Joint Incident Management Team is advising businesses and organizations that intend to allow viewers to use their property to consider the following:
- Liability Insurance
- Trash Removal
- Restroom facilities
- Private Security
- Serving any food to the public requires Health Department permits
- Eclipse viewers may attempt to use private property without authorization
- Parking in grassy areas may not be conducive to vehicles depending on ground conditions
