COLUMBUS, Ind. – After serving as the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Jail Division recreation officer since November 1999, Danny Sipple completed recreation for the final time on Wednesday.
As the BCSO staff gathered to support and celebrate Danny on his retirement, Danny said, “It’s been an enjoyable 24 years.” Throughout Danny’s retirement party, memories and laughs were shared about Danny’s time spent at the department.
“It says a lot when all the inmates always respected you,” Chief Deputy John Martoccia told Sipple.
He was presented with a plaque and photograph of Bartholomew County Jail, signed by many of the employees who worked with him over the years. Sheriff Chris Lane then had a surprise for Sipple and told him, “Danny, the sheriff’s office would like to name the dome (where outdoor recreation is conducted) after you – ‘The Danny Dome.’”
Officer Jeff Tindell proclaimed, “You’re a legend, Danny.”
