INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is alerting motorists to changing traffic patterns on the southwest side of Indianapolis this weekend as I-69 Finish Line crews move eastbound lanes of I-465 to new pavement.
Beginning Friday, December 15, at 9 p.m., eastbound I-465 will be reduced to one lane between I-70 and US 31, with lanes reopening by 5 a.m. on Monday, December 18. All three westbound lanes will remain open this weekend.
During the lane restrictions, INDOT says the speed limit on both eastbound and westbound I-465 will remain at 45 mph. Once the traffic shift is complete on Monday morning, drivers will travel on new pavement.
Various ramps will also close on Friday, Dec. 15, at 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18:
- I-70 EB/WB to I-465 SB/EB
- SR 67 (Kentucky Ave.) to/from I-465 EB
- Mann Rd. to I-465 EB
- SR 37 (Harding St.) to/from I-465 EB
- I-465 WB to US 31 NB (East St.)
The southbound US 31 (East St.) ramp to I-465 WB will remain closed through the spring of 2024.
A map of all lane and ramp closures is available here.
In addition to lane and ramp closures, existing access from northbound SR 37 at Edgewood Ave. will permanently close and Harding St. will be restricted to single lanes north and south of the I–465 interchange beginning Dec. 15. Restrictions on Harding St. will be in place through most of 2024 during I–465 bridge work.
