FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin Community High School (FCHS) teacher Eric Jenkins has been named a top three finalist for the 2024 Indiana Teacher of the Year.
Jenkins, an English teacher, was surprised by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) Senior Director of Educator Talent/Leadership and Innovation, Rebecca Estes, and many former teacher of the year winners with the announcement on Tuesday morning.
“Eric is a student favorite,” FCHS Principal Steve Ahaus said. “After years of excellent instruction, he is very deserving of this award. He is a model for what we want a professional teacher to look like in the classroom and around the building.”
