COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) arrested a wanted local man after a chase involving law enforcement on Wednesday evening.
Deputies received information about a wanted subject driving in the area of North US 31 and Random Road just after 7 p.m. The wanted subject, Chawn Coomer, 38, of Columbus, had active warrants for his arrest.
Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, however, Coomer allegedly refused to pull over. The vehicle pursuit continued into Columbus at which point the Columbus Police Department assisted BCSO.
The car eventually stopped at a residence on McCullough Lane where the suspect supposedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended in the backyard of the residence.
Coomer was booked into Bartholomew County Jail for Resisting Law Enforcement (Vehicle), Resisting Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, and a Bartholomew County Felony warrant. He remains in custody on a $100,000.00 bond.
