COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) took a local man into custody on Wednesday night after officers allegedly found a stolen handgun inside his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Law enforcement stopped a vehicle near 11th and California Streets at around 11:20 p.m. after noticing the car had only one working headlight. Police say the driver, Elias Marshall, 22, seemed to be visibly nervous. Officers supposedly found a gun, reported stolen out of Indianapolis, next to the driver’s seat, per CPD.
Marshall was arrested and remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of Theft of a Firearm/Possession of Stolen Property, a Level 5 Felony.
